I made these three new leafages with seeds that dropped from the sycamore trees in my backyard in Mattituck on the North Fork of Long Island.
You may remember them as “helicopters” or “whirligigs” from your childhood; you may remember pressing them on the bridge of your nose, secured by the stickiness of the seeds. I have come to see them as wings blossomed into new botanical creatures.
