Have any studies been done on the aftereffects of babesiosis on the legs? My husband had it many years ago and his legs have become very weak. He got the tick in Southold but our permanent address was PA. He was in intensive care for 11 days and was finally diagnosed and treated for malaria at Abington Memorial Hospital. After we returned home they called and said it was babesiosis. He has always been very active but as he has gotten older his legs are very weak and we do not know why.
I remember reading in the Suffolk Times about a doctor who had babesiosis and had problems riding his bike after it.
