Please visit my blog where I have documented my travels to Pakistan in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Arrivals and departures, the most bittersweet of the bittersweet! Departures hold the bitter bits.

This is the second mini-memoir of mine published by 2paragraphs. I’m wondering: could an entire memoir be written in two paragraphs(s)? Will continue mulling…
This personal story was published in 2paragraphs in June, 2013. This is the first time I’ve tried to write in two paragraphs. It’s a powerful format. Perhaps you’ll give it a try!
I’ve documented my month in Pakistan and invite you to read my blog posts about these travels. Also, please listen to this Tidings interview with Shireen Pasha, the filmmaker who has produced a wonderful documentary, After the Floods, about our project.
For one reason or another I stopped posting hightidings in 2012 but I plan to resume in January, 2013. Until then, you can see those earlier hightidings posts right here.

About Hazel
Born to German Jewish refugee physicians in Lahore (now Pakistan, then British India) Hazel has lived, studied and worked in many places–India, England, Australia, Israel and the United States. She makes her home in the woods of the eastern end of Long Island, New York where she produces the art of leafages, the radio sounds of Tidings and writes about growing up Jewish in Lahore. About Leafages
Leafages by Hazel Kahan are made from real leaves, vines and tendrils interwoven with calligraphy, decorative pen and ink flourishes and imaginary Latin botanical names. Leafages contain a philosophical or inspirational thought, quotation or verse from sages, poets or religious texts. Some leafages are specially created for an individual, a couple or a family with words or leaves reflecting their personal narrative. They are available on the Leafages shop on Etsy although the supply is low right now, all my energies having been absorbed by the book I’ve been writing. Do come back soon when the shop will be full of new leafage abundance or contact me.
